Samsung introduces new Galaxy Chromebook with strange configuration

The news

Samsung introduced the new Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 on 03/24/2022: Link.

It has a good, high-resolution screen with a 12.4-inch WQXGA (2560 Γ— 1600 pixels) LCD touch display. However, this is strangely only matched by a slow Intel Celeron N4500 processor, which has to take care of the screen rendering.

The rest of the 2-in-1 device is also rather minimally equipped: only 4 GB of RAM main memory, 64 GB of storage space, a microSD card slot as a storage expansion option, USB-C and USB-A Type 2 ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and an HD webcam are included. The battery has 45.3 Wh3 and is supposed to charge quickly via 45 W.

The silver Chromebook has an RRP of Β£419 and Β£499 for the LTE version. It will be available in the UK from April 15, 2022.

Samsung targets the device at pupils and students who, among other things, work remotely with it. Thanks to the good screen, it’s supposed to be suitable for watching videos.

The battery will probably not last long in this configuration due to the screen’s high pixel density, even though the processor is quite power-efficient. In my humble estimation, without having tested it, the otherwise good device would look better with a Full-HD screen and a more potent processor. And even Full HD (1980 Γ— 1080 pixels) would still be too much for the12.4-inch display. Thus, the price is set quite high! The device is too weak for the Linux mode, and the storage space is too small. You should consider that if you want to strike!
