C2 Productions have discovered a new dark start screen on a Chrome OS device in developer mode and described it on Twitter:

That would be nice! Because so far, the current white start screen is very blinding! That’s incredibly annoying when you turn on a Chromebook at night or in the dark. πŸ˜‰

Apparently, this is also related to the new writing β€œChromeOS” without spaces, which should come soon. I have already described that here: Link. So maybe it will become β€œchromeOS” after all, which would be similar to the writing β€œmacOS.”

Check out the little clip. I think that looks pretty good! πŸ˜€

It’s still a little unclear exactly what settings lead to this result. Most likely, it’s the system-wide Dark Mode, which is becoming more and more customized along the lines of Android 12’s Material Design template [Material.io]. In β€œLight Mode”, the start screen may look different.

Let’s wait and see πŸ˜‰.
